This October, Amoria Bond's inclusion advocates are leading awareness of Black History Month UK with a series of initiatives that our teams can get involved in to learn, appreciate and celebrate black culture and history.
Black History Month celebrates the heritage and culture of black people in Britain, which is all too often unheralded.
As a UK-based company, Black History Month is an important part of our calendar; however, as advocates for diversity and inclusion everywhere, we are extending the celebration to all of our international offices. Our teams everywhere can look forward to:
Each month our employees are entitled to a book, e-book or audiobook of their choice. Our Inclusion Advocates have curated a list of recommendations from black authors with topics related to Black History Month.
You can find the full list of recommendations here.
Inspiring Black Britons
We'll be sharing pictures and information about inspirational black figures from British history on screens throughout our offices.
MOBO live stream mixes
Our resident DJs / company founders will be live-streaming a mix of MOBO classics into all our offices and via a live link for our colleagues working from home on the 15th of October …the perfect way to warm up for our Amoria Bond 15 year anniversary celebration dinner in Manchester later that evening!
Join us to listen live to the mix via https://www.twitch.tv/djdannydaw or anytime via soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/danny-daw
Our inclusion advocates have also put together a list of insightful and thought-provoking podcasts about Black British History and allyship to share with our employees and followers.
You can find the full collection here.
To spark conversation and ideas, we've put together some of our favourite TED talks that tackle racial politics and black culture in an informative, inspirational way.
Find our inclusion advocates' collection of TED Talks here.
Plus there's much more to be shared with our teams, on our website and our social media channels, including articles around Black History Month and information about our work as founding members of Programme One – a collaborative initiative that aims to remove barriers to black talent in the recruitment industry.
We're proud of our ongoing commitments to diversity, including becoming founding members of Programme One and Founding Partner signatories of the Diversity and Inclusion Charter. But, there is still more to be done, and the time for change is now. We believe it's important to recognise and celebrate the milestones that have been reached so far, make-right the history books by showcasing inspiring Black figures from the past and present, and stand firm as allies in words and actions. We are grateful to all our inclusion advocates and colleagues who have taken the time to develop these initiatives and research topics, books, podcasts and inspirational figures to share.
Look out for much more from us throughout October, and learn more about our year-round commitments to Diversity & Inclusion here.
